Wii Storage Issue Addressed, Half-Fixed Via Patch in Spring
Use Your SD Card for All It’s Worth
by Coop
Now that the DSi is out of the way, Nintendo is on to the Wii. Gamervision’s office Wii is completely full of WiiWare at all times, but it looks like the problem will soon be a thing of the past, sorta.
In Spring, the Wii Shop channel will be updated to allow for gamers to download WiiWare games directly onto their SD cards. this doesn't mean you can run games from the cards, but the swapping will be made much easier. 8GB SD cards run about $30.00, so it appears that the Wii will soon have storage space comparable to the Xbox 360 (which has 12GB on the old systems after the proprietary Microsoft files that came preloaded) for cheap. Really cheap. Too bad it's only a half issue.
This has been the "duh" fix for a while, and it's good to see Nintendo finally confirm it. It's also a baby step towards making it act as normal memory, and Nintendo loves themselves some baby steps.
Now, AGAIN, why the HELL didn't you do this at E3?

You can use SD cards you own already, it's not like you need to buy NINTENDO SD.
I'm not concerned about proprietary SD cards. It's more a matter of using last-gen technology to solve a current-gen problem.
YEP!
