Driving really fast is really cool.  Driving really fast in the future is even cooler.  In F-Zero you can do both!  This popular video game stands up to the test of time...it better because the events haven't happened yet.  What I learned from this game is that when humanity finally makes first contact with aliens, the first thing we are going to do is race them.  It's like if ET was in American Graffiti.
