There were more than a few compelling storylines in games in 2008. Star Wars: The Force Unleashed offered a more gripping back-story in 8 hours of gameplay than George Lucas could pull off in three prequels. Fallout 3, Lost Odyssey and Persona 4 gave us three distinct and incredible examples of how the RPG can be used to tell a powerful and personal story. And who can forget the detail, depth, and full-circle nature of the plot of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots?

Yes, 2008 saw a goodly number of story-driven games. But there can only be one best ever for the year.
