The Sega Saturn was notorious for its' difficulties in game coding and developing. Due to this problem, many of the Saturns' classic games will most likely never see the light of day in our current generations high definition port scene. One of the best games for the platform was Panzer Dragoon Saga, a rather short but sweet RPG based on the rail shooter series Panzer Dragoon. The game was phenomenal, but unfortunately goes for hundreds of dollars on online auction sites because of its' short print run. Only the lucky few Saturn fans ever had the opportunity to play this gem. It was also rumored that Sega "lost the code" for the game, and could never have ported it to anything else.
Apparently the game indeed had a running port for the PC. According to Giancarlo Varanini of Gamespot, the game was up and running. On the most recent Giantbombcast, he spoke of his time working at GameTap, and how Panzer Dragoon Saga was one of the games they had worked on bringing to the service. Due to financial woes, the port never came to be. Sad but true for the fans. Perhaps someday the public will get an opportunity to try this relic from the past. For now, the port is in limbo.
