Ice-T might be doing a voice for Gears of War 3. Seriously. That's a thing that might be happening. The rapper turned actor has mentioned in the past that he would love to bring his vocal talents to the series, being a fan of Cliffy B's third-person shooter franchise, and, according to the man himself, we'll all be hearing him in the sequel come 2011. You totally didn't hear it from him, though.
Besides being an avid Twitter user, Ice-T also frequents the video streaming service UStream, where he answers questions and talks with his fans in a casual fashion. In a recent chat, he dropped the news that he would be doing a voice in Gears, before quickly turning it around with a classic, "I didn't just say that." Oh yes, Mr. Ice, you absolutely, positively did. The internet hears and sees all.
This is far from the first time a celebrity has added a voice to a video game cast just because of fandom. As recently as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, rapper 50 Cent voiced a soldier, while many of the cast of Firefly lent their vocal talents to Halo 3, before jumping on as full-fledged cast members in ODST. With gaming becoming more popular and the number of cast members being needed for any story-driven game, I'd expect to see (or, rather, hear) more cameos as time goes on. Let's just hope they don't get silly - err, sillier.
