The rumors are starting...

A firestorm is brewing on the internet. Its eruption could cause a massive explosion taking out half of the servers with it. Apparently a reviewer at Gamespot, Jeff Gerstmann, has been fired for giving Kane and Lynch a 6.0. This wouldn't be an issue if the entire site wasn't covered with Kane and Lynch promotions.

"According to a fellow Gamespot contributor and close friend of Gerstmann who wished to remain anonymous, the editor was fired Wednesday morning because of his negative review of the game, which he awarded a 6.0." -Destructoid

Now lets not turn this into a flame war on what the game deserved, that isn’t really the issue. Metacritic is giving it about a 70%, give or take, so his review score is in line. I don’t know how this really could have gotten to a firing level. Why this couldn’t be discussed reasonably is beyond me.

The rumors are also that it wasn’t the score, but the content. Again, not a reason to be fired, but a good point. This guy has been known for causing problems by focusing on a games negative points. He gave Bioshock a 9, Twilight Princess an 8.8, and Tony Hawks Pro Skater a 10/10. Gamespot should have fired his ass for being a bad reviewer, but doing it like this and for this reason is just going to put them ass deep in trouble.

Odds are there is much more to this story then CNET deciding to fire him for a low score, we will see...
