Best Selling Video Games of 2007 Announced
Surprisingly, Strawberry Shortcake DS is Not On the List
by Sarah
We all know last year was a record-breaking one for video games. But could you have guessed what the biggest seller of the year was? Well, yeah, probably. To the surprise of almost no one, Halo 3 topped the 2007 charts with over 4.8 million games sold. Excellent work, Master Chief!

Coming in at Number Two was Wii Play, which was an okay selection of minigames bundled with a Wii Remote. From my game store experience, I would say that a Wii Play went out the door with a Wii system about 90% of the time; they were the easiest thing in the store to sell. This is just another indicator of the Wii’s crazy sales; incidentally, the DS and Wii were the two top-selling systems of 2007, as well.
The full list:
01. Halo 3 (Xbox 360) - 4,820,000
02. Wii Play with Remote (Wii) - 4,120,000
03. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (Xbox 360) - 3,040,000
04. Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock (PS2) - 2,720,000
05. Super Mario Galaxy (Wii) - 2,520,000
06. Pokemon Diamond (DS) - 2,480,000
07. Madden NFL 08 (PS2) - 1,900,000
08. Guitar Hero II (PS2) - 1,890,000
09. Assassin's Creed (Xbox 360) - 1,870,000
10. Mario Party 8 (Wii) - 1,820,000
The only real surprise on the list? Guitar Hero II on the PS2, which was actually released in 2006. With no Halo game coming out this year, it’s anyone’s guess what will dominate in ’08. My money’s on the new Chronicles of Narnia game.

I think Halo 3 topped the charts only because it was out for soo long now
