BioShock 2 Creative Director Promises “More Dynamic Endings”

BioShock was a phenomenal game; almost no one would argue that. However, even with all of the things BioShock did right, some felt that the final boss left something to be desired. During a Q&A session with some members of the BioShock 2 development team, 2K Marin addressed this, and promised that the ending they crafted would be, if nothing else, “a different approach”.
When asked if BioShock 2 would have a better final boss than its predecessor, Creative Director Jordan Thomas stated:
Actually we sort of see the final boss of the original game as one of the things that, in general, BioShock doesn’t do well. So without spoiling the ending, I’d like to just say we’ve taken a very different approach.
Later on, when questioned about whether or not BioShock 2 would have multiple endings, Jordan promised that the game would feature more than one ending, but the choices you make would affect more than just the conclusion.
The endings are at once kind of more dynamic and more granular than the original game offered… but I think more importantly, your choices start to inform the story before the ending this time.
With BioShock 2 in stores tomorrow (tonight at midnight for some retailers), it won’t be long until the general gaming public finds out more about the changes and improvements 2K Marin has implemented. After more than two years of waiting, there are less than 24 hours left until you walk a mile in a Big Daddy’s oversized shoes. No matter what your thoughts on the ending of the first BioShock were, I think we can all agree that a dynamic conclusion can only be a good thing.
