Call of Duty 4 After-Hours Event
This week, a handful of GameStop locations across the country hosted an after-hours Call of Duty 4 event, where gamers over the age of 17 could come check out the game after the store normally closed for business for the day. One of these locations happened to be in my district, so I decided to check it out and let everyone at Gamervision know what it was all about.
A GameStop manager promoting the event.
Several Xbox 360s were set up throughout the store, and it was decorated for the event, complete with people in army fatigues at the door handing out goodies like COD4 water bottles, hats, and autographed cover art. (They actually stopped me to make sure I was over 17. Is that good or bad?) A local radio station was also there covering the event.
A Call of Duty fan enjoying the game.
As for the actual game, I wasn’t allowed to take any screenshots, but I can tell you that it looked great, even at a component level.
That’s me! I look like I’m concentrating really hard.
Fans of the series will not be disappointed by the upcoming fourth installment, which is one of the most anticipated games of the year. It was definitely a lot of fun to play, even though I got blown up a few times. Damn grenades.
That’s me with the Activision production coordinator.
Vince Fennel, the Activision production coordinator, was on hand to answer questions or help people out when they didn’t know where to go in the game; he’d obviously played once or twice before. He didn’t know why Activision chose a small South Philly location to set up shop, but that worked out nicely for me since it was only a few blocks from my house.
Even though my days at GameStop are numbered, it was nice to get the opportunity to enjoy one last big event as a GameStop employee before I start working for Gamervision full-time. It was also pretty awesome to get to play Call of Duty 4 before its release date. But don’t worry, gamers
you only have a few weeks left until you can get a copy of your very own, and it’ll be worth the wait.
