Persona 3 and Persona 4 are two of the best games of the last ten years. Between both of them (including the regular and FES versions of P3), I've probably dedicated close to three hundred hours to the series, and I still wanted more. Since the last two Persona titles came out on the PS2, Shin Megami Tensei fans have been anxiously awaiting any news on the first true next-gen entry in the franchise, and it may be coming... eventually. In a recent interview, Persona 4 director Katsura Hashino stated "We are preparing to start work on the next Persona".
I wish I could tell you more about what Hashino said in the original interview, but unfortunately, I can't read Japanese. I'd like to imagine that it says "Persona 5 will be out in late 2010 for next-gen systems, and will be totally awesome and blow your mind," but that's probably false. False that Hashino said that in an interview, I mean, not false that it will blow your mind, because it likely will. If development is just starting, we probably still have a few years to wait, but at least Persona 3 PSP should help fill the gap this summer. I know what I want from Persona 5, but I fully trust this development team to make another ridiculously fantastic RPG.
