Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep Coming to North America September 7

Also Getting PSP Bundle

by Sarah

Kingdom Hearts fans have been waiting patiently since Kingdom Hearts II was released in 2006 for the next game in the series that would actually push the story forward, not just further convolute the narrative. So far, that hasn't been the case, and last year's oddly-named 358/2 Days didn't really leave a lasting impression. With Kingdom Hearts III nowhere in sight, the most we can do is hope for a spin-off with a less stupid title and a more compelling plot. Hopefully, upcoming PSP exclusive Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep will be that game, but as of yesterday, the handheld title didn't even have a release date in North America. Today, however, Sony has announced when we can expect it: September 7. Better yet for those who don't have a PSP yet, Birth By Sleep will be getting its own PSP bundle as well.

The $199.99 bundle will only be available at GameStop, and includes the following:

  • “Mystic-Silver” PSP-3000 system
  • KINGDOM HEARTS Birth by Sleep on UMD (Universal Media Disc)*
  • Movie (to be announced)
  • 4GB Memory Stick PRO Duo

I love how Sony continues to act like the PSPgo doesn't exist by releasing game bundles with the PSP-3000. While the included movie hasn't been announced yet, this is still a pretty good deal, made better by the inclusion of a 4GB memory stick. I'm still on the fence about Birth By Sleep, but I'll probably end up giving it a shot. Hey, it's not like KHIII is coming out any time soon.
