LittleBigPlanet Weekly Blog Addresses Issues

Servers, Moderation, and More

by Sarah

While LittleBigPlanet is easily one of the year’s best games, it has also gotten a fair share of bad press, for various reasons. If it wasn’t the lengthy delays, poor lyric choices, or server issues, it was the fact that user-created levels were being moderated out of existence. Instead of continuing to let these problems mar LBP’s reputation, Sony has decided to take action, creating a new, weekly blog focusing specifically on that game, the issues surrounding it, and concerns from the community.

The first post addresses the most recent issue, moderation, by stating “The small percentage of levels moderated have been done so after the community has reported them using the Good Grief tool. We never moderate levels that have not been reported in this way. The vast majority of moderated levels were due to offensive material.” This kind of makes sense, but still doesn’t cover the levels that were removed for no apparent reason. According to Sony, the moderation process is a work in progress that’s being improved all the time, so at least they are aware of the issues.

The blog also reports that the servers are running better than ever, with 177,657 user-generated levels that have been played over 22 million times. Not too shabby at all, and I hope to add my own levels to that statistic eventually. Hopefully, Sony will be able to clear up some of the issues the game has had and PS3 owners won’t shy away from picking up a copy, because it really is a fantastic game. We’ll keep an eye on the weekly blog and keep you informed of more big LittleBigPlanet news.

the moderation should be fixed ASAP so that i can start to create a level. I will not make anything and spend lengthy time on it until i am positive that the moderation process has been ironed out and I won't just come home one day to see it gone. Also need online co-op creation..
