Fallout 3 fans eagerly awaiting the next bit of downloadable content for the Xbox 360 got a nasty surprise today when they found out that The Pitt was actually…. the pits. Gamers immediately started flooding internet forums with complaints of glitching and crashing, with missing textures and giant exclamation points showing up in the game. Understandably, many are angry after paying ten bucks for the content. Bethesda issued a formal statement shortly after.

"We are continuing to look into the issues people are experiencing with The Pitt for Xbox 360. As of now it looks like the file for the English version on Xbox Live was somehow corrupted. We are currently working with Microsoft to remove the existing file off of Live to prevent any further downloads. Our plan is to replace it with a new file as soon as possible. We hope to have another update for you shortly."

It's really a shame that Bethesda has worked so hard to continually support and patch Fallout 3 to make it a great product, only to have this set them back. I hope it doesn’t take too long for Bethesda and Microsoft to fix this mess. Just be aware of the problem, and if you were planning on getting this today, hold off until the issue is resolved, assuming it's even still available by the time you get to your 360.

Did I really use that crappy “pits” joke in the first sentence? Man, that’s lame.
