It’s been a couple of weeks since Rock Band came out, and 360 and PS3 owners have been rocking out across the country with their four-man bands. Oh wait—scratch that part about PS3 owners having four-person bands, since it was quickly discovered that the PS3 Guitar Hero III guitar was not compatible with Rock Band. This wouldn’t be such a huge deal if not for the fact that the Rock Band bundle only comes with one guitar, and additional guitars designed for the game will not be available until next year.



While it’s a real shame that PS3 owners got the shaft (especially since it was later determined that many of the Rock Band guitars were defective, anyway), they’ll soon be able to correct the problem. Harmonix has stated that a patch is on the way that will allow GHIII guitars to be used with Rock Band. The patch is supposed to be available today.

I have to say that I’m pretty impressed with the way Harmonix and EA have been handling the various problems associated with Rock Band; yeah, the game wasn’t perfect, but they’ve been doing everything in their power to correct the issues at hand in a timely manner, what with this patch, being quick to offer replacement guitars, and even giving out free games for those who have to wait. I can only hope that in the future, other game companies will follow their example.
