Rumor: New Tron Game in the Works?

Disney Interactive Maybe Working on Movie Tie-in

by Sarah

Disney Interactive may be laying off employees and merging studios left and right, but that doesn't mean they're done making games just yet. In fact, one of their favorite things to do is publish movie tie-in games, and they may be doing just that for an upcoming sequel. Tron 2.0 (the 2011 movie starring that lesbian chick from The O.C., not to be confused with the video game from 2003) may not have even begun shooting yet, but Variety is reporting that Disney Interactive is working on a new Tron game.

I have mixed reactions to this news, as a fan of the original Tron (and the ridiculously difficult arcade game of the same name). I wouldn't object to having a fun, next-gen Tron, but tie-in games are notoriously shitty. Also, this story originally comes from Variety, who are infamous for making shit up when it comes from gaming news. If this game really does exist, expect to hear more as we get closer to the Tron 2.0 release.

I wouldn't mind another Tron game. I still play the original bike game every so often. Wasn't Killer App a failed sequel game? I definitely hope this one, if true, is better than that one.
