Valkyria Chronicles Had Huge Sales Increase in April

For months and months, I’ve been singing the virtues of Valkyria Chronicles, an absolute gem of a strategy RPG released for the PS3 last holiday season. Despite high review scores, the game was a flop sales-wise, making it unlikely that a sequel would ever be produced in North America. However, by some miracle, Valkyria Chronicles saw a huge sales jump in the month of April. By huge, I don’t mean a few extra copies of the game were sold; there was actually a 400% increase in sales.
I’d like to think that this is mostly because everyone finally listened to me and bought the damn game, but it probably also has something to do with the fact that GameStop sold it half off during the retailer’s Game Days sale. The addition of downloadable content probably didn’t hurt, either. Or maybe gamers were just holding off on buying it until they got their tax returns. Whatever the reason, I’m really glad to hear it. Even if we never see a sequel, it makes me happy to know that tens of thousands more gamers are now experiencing this wonderful game.

This is definitely on the short list for me to pick up when I eventually get a PS3.
