A press release sent out from EA this morning let the world know that the demo for Brütal Legend is now available on both the XBLA and PSN. Of course, like with most good things, there's a catch. The only people who are getting access to Eddie Riggs and rocktastic ways will be those who pre-ordered the game from mom-and-pop games retailer GameStop. The rest of us, according to the release, will get to play it "in the coming weeks".

The demo gives gamers the opportunity to play the game's complete opening chapter, as Eddie finds himself thrust into the position of potential savior of an entire world. Granted, it's a world that has mountains made of amplifiers, spiders who spin guitar string webs, and a population that is made up of a host of heavy metal legends. A series of tutorials will show gamers that Eddie is the man most suited to lead a revolution, using "The Separator" axe, and his "Clementine", his magical Gibson Flying V guitar.

Tim Schafer, the legend behind the Legend, is excited for people to get a glimpse of his magnum opus: "I wish people could play the whole game right now. But while we’re waiting for Rocktober 13th, a taste of Metal is better than none at all."

Since I haven't pre-ordered, I find myself in the position of having to see what the "coming weeks" have to offer. Although my early excitement for BL wasn't all that high, reading some early impressions has gotten me a bit tingly. If anyone gets a chance to try this demo out, come on back and report to the rest of us what we're missing!
