First Xbox Games on Demand Titles Released

Store? You Don't Need No Steenkin' Store!

by Sean

Beginning on Tuesday August 11th, Xbox Live subscribers will be able to start downloading complete games via the Games on Demand service, and today, Microsoft has detailed the list of 24 games that will be in the first wave. There are a few gems to be found in here (if you've been able to resist the allure to buy these games already), such as Mass Effect, Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas, and Burnout Paradise. No prices have been announced for any of the games, although MS has previously promised that the games would be priced comparably with their disc-and-case versions. Although since you can probably get most of these games used for around twenty bucks, I have to wonder which price point is being used as a comparison.

Here's all 24 games:

  • Assassin's Creed
  • Bioshock
  • Need for Speed: Most Wanted
  • Burnout Paradise
  • Perfect Dark Zero
  • Call of Duty 2
  • Ridge Racer 6
  • Prey
  • Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
  • Rockstar Games Presents Table Tennis
  • Fight Night Round 3
  • SEGA Rally
  • Kameo: Elements of Power
  • Test Drive: Unlimited
  • LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga
  • Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas
  • Mass Effect
  • Tomb Raider: Legend
  • Meet The Robinsons
  • Karaoke Revolution American Idol Encore
  • Viva Piñata
  • MX vs. ATV Untamed
  • Viva Piñata 2: Trouble in Paradise
  • Need for Speed Carbon

That's convenient, but I'd still rather buy a discounted copy in stores and have the box. I'm old fashioned like that.

I'd get PDZ and Mass Effect but I don't have the HD space. I like having the manual and case but being able to switch between DL'd games quickly is awesome.

I'm shocked Halo 3 is not here.

not a bad concept. you'll probably be more likely to try out some different titles simply out of sheer convenience.
