New Dead Space Zero-G Developer Diary Video

"You feel like you're in a completely different world."

by Sean

As a man much wiser than myself once noted, space is the final frontier. What human being can honestly say they haven't looked up at the night sky and imagined what it must feel like to break the surly bonds of Mother Earth and walk amongst the stars. What child hasn't watched video of astronauts cavorting around in a zero gravity environment and wondered when it would be their turn? And for as many games as there have been set in outer space (and boy have there been a ton of those), we don't often get a gaming experience that gives us a taste of what it feels like to float through space.

The Dead Space team over at EA knew that same longing, and set out to bring as much realism as they could to the zero gravity sequences in their upcoming horror-survival release. You don't believe me? Just check out this video:

I don't know about you, but there were moments in there that just about gave me chills. Seeing Isaac float to the ceiling of the room, and then seeing the room re-orient itself was certainly a highlight. And the sound and music they chose for this piece really helped create an atmosphere of dread and fear.

Dead Space releases in the States on October 14th. Are you ready?
