Next Week in Rock Band DLC: Bands With Rhyming Names

Keys, Trees, Yours for Fees

by Sean

Next week Rock Band will add a handful of tracks from a pair of bands that mean absolutely nothing to me. Sorry. Maybe it's that I'm old, maybe it's that Rock Band is hard-pressed to come up with multi-platinum acts every week, but the long and the short of it is: I've never heard of these performers. But someone has to have heard of them, or at the very least they have families who love them. First on the agenda is three songs from the Neon Trees, whose wikipedia page describes them as "a rock band from Provo, Utah, with origins in Temecula, California", that have been around since 2005. You can also check out a trio of songs from the American blues-rock duo known as The Black Keys, who were formed in 2001 and yet have still managed not to show up on my radar. It's probably my fault as I'm still convinced that popular music reached its peak in 1994; it's a scientific fact.

Available on Xbox 360, Wii and PlayStation 3 system (Aug. 17):

·         The Black Keys – “Strange Times”

·         The Black Keys – “I Got Mine”

·         The Black Keys – “Your Touch”

·         Neon Trees – “Animal”

·         Neon Trees – “Sins of My Youth”

·         Neon Trees – “1983”

(All tracks are original master recordings)

(These tracks will be available in Europe on PlayStation 3 system Aug. 18)

These tracks will be available for purchase as “The Black Keys Pack 01” and “Neon Trees Pack 01,” as well as individual tracks, on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 system, and as individual tracks only on Wii.

Price:
$1.99 USD, £.99 UK, €1.49 EU (160 Microsoft Points) per track
$2.00 USD (200 Wii Points™) per track
$5.49, £2.49 UK, €3.99 EU (440 Microsoft Points) for The Black Keys Pack 01 or Neon Trees Pack 01

** Dates for Rock Band game tracks are tentative and subject to change. **

Black Keys are the yin to the yang of White Stripes. A drummer and a guitarist, but more sludgy. And what do you get one you mix black keys and white stripes? A gatdamn piano.
