The PlayStation Move is the Motion Control of the Future

Or So Kevin Butler Would Have You Believe

by Sean

Sony has apparently been investing heavily in hot tubs, and as you can see above, has sent commercial spokeman Kevin Butler eight months into the future. While you and I might take that kind of travel opportunity to buy a sports almanac or perhaps drive a hover car, Mr. Butler seems to be far more interested in pointing out why the recently announced PlayStation Move is superior to any other motion control system. While he doesn't name either Natal or the Wiimote by name, it's pretty clear to see that he's predicting a world in which Sony's new controller reigns supreme.

Personally, I had more or less given up on the Kevin Butler line of ads, but this one has given me reason to think I could be pulled back in. The pointed jabs at Natal's red ball game and what seems to be a directed dig at Punch-Out!! seem to come from a Sony that finally has a leg to stand on. With two possible GOTY contenders in God of War III and Heavy Rain, following a year where the PS3 exclusive Uncharted 2 all but swept every major award, maybe Sony is finally starting to cement its lead over the competiton. Now all we have to do is wait to actually try the Move to see if this chest thumping is merited.

I can't seem to find him on Twitter. I've tried Kevin Buttler, The Kevin Buttler, @KevinButtler, @TheKevinButtler, and Playstation Kevin Buttler. What am I doing wrong? Can someone on Twitter send me a link on Twitter so that I can follow The Kevin Buttler, please.

While I think the PS3 move is going to be pretty sweet, I think that if Natal does half of what it's hyped up to do, it's going to dominate motion controlled based gaming. Kevin Butler is the man though.

I wish he would do the Sony press conferences. I might actually pay attention to E3 coverage that way.

"I had more or less given up on the Kevin Butler line of ads"

What??!? These are the best ads Sony has done since... ever! Besides the creepy baby doll at the PS3 launch, anything that F'ed up deserves a nod.

These ads are great and I'm glad that Sony decided to go this way with their advertising. The best part of this ad are the small jabs at the Wii and its comparatively lamer control system. My favorites are....all of them, if you missed any of them you can get them on the PSN. COME ON!!!!
