First Look At Treyarch’s Follow-Up to CoD4

by Veggie Jackson

You’d be hard-pressed to find someone who disliked Call of Duty 4.  With a Metacritic average of 94 and sales in the high seven digits, it was unquestionably one of the top games of 2007.  It’s follow-up, Call of Duty: World at War, however, while running on the same engine as CoD4, is being developed by Treyarch, the same group that brought us the disappointing Call of Duty 3, and is therefore the subject of much scrutiny and preconceived notions of haterism.  So, does this Call of Duty match up to the epic CoD4?  Well, that’s not for me to decide.  What I can do, though, is show you some footage of the multiplayer beta in action.  Check out the videos, give our first impressions of the game a read, and let us know what you think.  Will Call of Duty: World at War be a fitting follow-up to Call of Duty 4, or just a sad pit stop before Infinity Ward makes another classic shooter?

i am just sick and tired of the WWII setting at the moment that i am finding it really hard to get excited about dropping 60 bones on this title. Plus add on the fact that this looks like a MOD of CoD4 and does not really stand out in my mind as anything different except it adds vehicles, which i am not interested in anyway. I mean its looks good, but it does not stand out enough for me from CoD4 that I think I would rather save my money and if i get the itch just play CoD4 more.

LOL, @Lane: Did you not like Battlefield Vietnam?

That game was rock-solid, and had an awesome ambiance. They really capture the grimy feel of that war.
