Dead Rising 2: Case Zero Breaks XBLA Sales Records

Capcom Is Happy

by Veggie Jackson

As you can tell by our review, we liked Dead Rising 2: Case Zero quite a bit.  Not only did it introduce us to the main character of Dead Rising 2, Chuck Greene, it also gave us our first taste of combo weapons, which multiply the fun to be had dismembering the undead.  We weren’t the only ones, it seems, as Capcom is touting the game as the best selling piece of content on Xbox Live ever.

Over a one-week period, Capcom stated in a press release, Dead Rising 2: Case Zero posted the “best week one unit sales in the history of all content distributed through Xbox LIVE Arcade.”  No sales numbers are given, but if DR2:CZ has surpassed other XBLA standouts like Castle Crashers, Battlefield 1943, and Mega Man 2, we’re talking about some serious numbers.

This news bodes very well for the sales of Dead Rising 2.  If this many people have downloaded the game’s prequel (and paid to do so), then confidence must be very high for the full game.  With all these people downloading the prequel, which allows players to carry over their experience to the main game, we can expect a whole slew of DR2 players to start off the game already jacked up.  September 28 is going to be a bad day to be a zombie.

Well, there's nothing quite like smacking zombies with anything you can grab at hand.
