The official list of Xbox 360 Achievements for Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 has been published, and it reveals several new pieces of information about next year’s most anticipated fighter.  While the list includes some interesting info, it actually seems to pose even more questions than it answers.

Many of the Achievements are unsurprising, like 10G for fighting on every stage, or 40G for fighting every opponent online, there are several that may reveal additional characters in the game’s roster.  There’s the “Fate of the Satsui no Hadou” Achievementy, which challenges players to “Decide who is the true master of the fist in a Xbox LIVE match.”  This strongly suggests that Ken, Akuma, or some other practitioner of Ryu’s Shotokan style.  Then there’s the “Wreak "Havok"” Achievement, which asks players to use X-Factor in a match.  So far, the only member of X-Factor on the roster is Cyclops, suggesting that two more X-Factor characters may be heading to the game.  Cyclops’ brother, Havok, would be the most obvious choice, but X-Factor has included many members, such as Siryn, Madrox, Strong Guy, Wolfsbane, and even the rest of the original X-Men, so the field is wide open on this one.  The “Darkstalkers” Achievement requires players to win a match with “a team composed of those who dwell in the darkness.”  So far, only two Darkstalkers characters (Morrigan and Felicia) have been announced as playable characters.  While this Achievement may just be a reference to the beloved fighting series, it may also hint towards a third Darkstalkers character being added to the game.  Finally, the “Copy This!” Achievement is obtained when players “Put an end to this game of spider and fly in a Xbox LIVE match.”  The title and description together may refer to the addition of Venom as a playable character, which would fill the currently vacant “Spidey-villain” slot.

The list also reveals that Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 will include some sort of previously unannounced Mission mode and a character progression system.  With less than two months until the game’s release date, I was expecting four more characters to be announced: two from Capcom, and two from Marvel.  This list makes me reconsider that expectation.  The full list of Achievements is below.
